How to be More Creative
Recognize the creativity in doing what you love and doing it your way
One's
productive
originality.
Do you think you are not creative but wish you were? I have a theory on creativity to de-bunk this mindset! My theory on creativity is this. Whatever you are interested in, let’s say, medicine, fitness, science, academia – it is all creative. Even if it’s not considered conventionally creative.
Creative, by definition means, “one who displays productive originality.” You can only learn things by being productive and if you are productively learning, you are growing your skills. As your skills grow, you get better at the things you are learning, in your own unique way.
Furthermore, nobody is a carbon copy of anyone, because you are not, “them” and they are not, “you.” You can learn from them, but ultimately, you will do it your way. This is the key to creativity, doing something that interests you and doing it your way.
If I was learning about quantum physics, I would be studying hard and gaining knowledge. I might not see myself as creative at all. But, as soon as I ponder a thought that is unique to me or do a dissertation on my ideas, I have suddenly become extremely creative!
I believe creativity does not come from the hands. It comes from the head and the heart. To be more creative, simply recognize the creativity in doing what you love and doing it your way.
